Fifty words? Fifty photos? Fifty weeks?
No, not exactly.
It refers to the focal length of the first lens I ever got for my first DSLR camera: 50mm. That lens gave birth to an excitement and curiosity for photography that continues to this day, and since the spring of 2013 I have used this website as a way to hold myself accountable for taking photos on a regular basis as well as showcase what I feel are some of my better photos. For a while I used only the 50mm f/1.8 for these pictures, but I have since branched off into other lenses as my collection of gear has grown. The result is still the same though: one photo each week, along with written and audio commentary from me about how I shot it.
I have had the pleasure of being interviewed on several photography shows over the years, including The Beginner Photography Podcast, This Week in Photo, and TWiP Family. I recommend checking these out for more information about this site: why I started it, why I do it, and how it has helped me and others grow as photographers.
